About us

Okavango is a water non-profit. We sell used clothing and send the proceeds to water conservations charities around the globe.

Why used clothing?

Our planet is churning out new clothing at an alarming rate - without considering the impact it's having on the communities and ecosystems where the clothing is made.

It can take 2,700 liters of water to grow the cotton to make a t-shirt. The water for this agriculture is typically diverted from a water system that supports societies, wildlife, and other business. There is also little regulation around the chemicals used in agriculture in many of the developing nations where our clothing is made. This means toxic runoff that ends up harming the watershed and its inhabitants.

Where do the profits go?

The hope for this non-profit is to support a number of other water conservation groups. All apparel found on this site will identify the organization that its proceeds will be sent to.
